English program 2019

Who are we?

The Emanzipatorische linke Liste of FSU-Jena is a loose coalition of motivated people who are unwilling to support the ongoing academic policys which omitt the student body. On the contrary it is our main concern to bring the political debate back to the university, as well as the everyday studylife, so that the needs and interests of the heterogeneous student body are taken into account.

What do we stand for?

For a self-determined university!
Nearly everybody has experienced controversies with lecturers, the examination office or deadlines. That´s why improving study conditions is particularly important to us! We are going to fight for a more student-friendly design of the examination regulations. In concrete terms: unconditional third attempts for all exams and longer deadlines for exam registration or deregistration. Furthermore, the abolition of mandatory attendance must be enforced consistently!

For more transparency!
As well as the minutes the meetings of the student council (StuRa) are confusing for many outsiders and appear chaotic. This needs to be changed! University policy affects us all – therefore the decisions of the StuRa should be comprehensible for everyone, don´t they? Because of that we are committed to more transparency regarding to easily accessible minutes and clear decisions.

For stronger student committees!
The StuRa (student council) is not only the plenum, it also includes work groups and departments. They work to specific topics for the StuRa. There are departments for the enviorment, against group-focused enmity and for equality. Their tasks are to plan events, support projects etc. Hereby the StuRa can have a broad and varied program. We would like to support the work groups and departments and keep them alive and make them even stronger, that’s what we will fight for in the next semesters.

For more free space at our Campus
Since we understand the concept of “free spaces” in our academic context in two different ways, the implementations of these should be the following.

More Work- and Meetin-Spaces on Campus!
Let’s make it cozy, green, more trees and seat options! Moreover, expansion of WiFi infrastructure in general and “Frei(t)Raum” especially is a crucial point for us to improve working environment at our university.

More freedom for personal development!
Free space is necessary to liberate everyone’s self-expression. Still there’s various aspects of exclusion at our university – may it be exclusively German information signs or closed “All gender toilets”. We want to change that! The sociopolitical impact of gender-related suppression and sexism is not yet present enough. We want accessible secure spaces for all people affected my any kind of discrimination!
